The hip joint is a large weight-bearing ball-and-socket joint connecting a leg to the trunk of the body. The head of the thigh bone (femur) fits into the socket of the ilium (pelvis).

The knee is a weight-bearing hinge joint made up of 3 parts. The thigh bone (femur) meets the large shin bone (tibia) to form the main knee joint. This joint has an inner (medial) and an outer (lateral) compartment. The kneecap (the patella) joins the femur to form a third joint, called the patellofemoral joint. The patella protects the front of the knee joint. The knee joint is surrounded by a joint capsule with ligaments strapping the inside and outside of the joint (collateral ligaments) as well as crossing within the joint (cruciate ligaments).

The shoulder is a joint connecting an upper limb or forelimb to the body. It is a ball-and-socket joint in which the head of the humerus fits into the socket of the scapula. It is made up of a complex series of tendons and ligaments that give you extraordinary motion.

Hand / Wrist
The wrist is a complex joint that bridges the hand to the forearm. It is actually a collection of multiple bones and joints. The bones comprising the wrist include the distal ends of the radius and ulna, 8 carpal bones, and the proximal portions of the 5 metacarpal bones. The wrist/hand are very important to ensure the upper extremity functions properly.
